🌀 Tame Impala with Djo, Bell Centre — July 22

Kevin Parker’s psychedelic-rock project comes to the Bell Centre Wednesday night with Djo (Joe Keery, better known as Steve from Stranger Things) as support. Tame Impala’s live show is one of the most visually stunning in contemporary rock: swirling visuals, immaculate sound design, and a set that moves from the woozy intimacy of “The Less I Know the Better” to the full stadium-psychedelia of “Let It Happen.” Djo’s dreamy indie pop is a genuinely good warm-up. 🎭 JFL Midnight Surprise Show, Studio TD — July 22 to 25

Every night Wednesday through Saturday, Studio TD hosts Just For Laughs’ most unpredictable event: the Midnight Surprise Show. The lineup is kept secret until you’re in your seat. Past editions have delivered household names who showed up unannounced; the format guarantees a genuinely shared experience because neither of you knows what’s coming. It starts at 11:59 PM, which makes it an ideal late-night cap to a full evening out. Tickets are affordable and usually available close to the date.

🎤 JFL Galas: Birbiglia, Gerry Dee and Fluffy — July 24 and 25

The live-taped Gala shows at Théâtre Maisonneuve are the prestige events of the whole festival. Mike Birbiglia brings his signature storytelling comedy on Friday at 6:30 PM (and Atsuko Okatsuka follows at 9:30 PM). Saturday has Gerry Dee at 6:30 PM and Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias at 9:30 PM, and anyone who has seen Iglesias live knows the man is worth every minute. These are polished, camera-ready shows where the crowd energy adds to the performance.

🪗 Weird Al Yankovic: FREE Outdoor Show — July 25

One of the weekend’s best deals: Weird Al Yankovic brings his “Bigger and Weirder” tour to Place des Festivals for a free outdoor show Saturday night. If you have never seen Weird Al live, the theatrical energy and the full costume changes are something you have to witness in person. A crowd that came specifically to have fun, outside, for free. Bring a blanket, get there early for a good spot.

🥁 Festival Haïti en Folie: Free Evening Concerts — July 25 and 26

Parc Lafontaine hosts the closing nights of the 20th edition of Festival Haïti en Folie, and the Saturday and Sunday shows are the ones to catch. The legendary Haitian band Boukman Eksperyans performs a free concert Saturday, July 25, combining Haitian vodou music with rock and jazz in a way that is unlike anything else at any festival this summer. Sunday, July 26 closes out the whole run with internationally acclaimed singer BélO, whose Caribbean soul sound draws a crowd that dances the whole set. Entry is free for the main outdoor concerts.

🎵 J. Cole: The Fall-Off Tour, Bell Centre — July 25

Saturday night: J. Cole brings “The Fall-Off Tour” to the Bell Centre, his first solo headline tour in five years and his most ambitious album cycle to date. “The Fall Off” has been a slow-burn critical favourite, and the live show promises full production with material that spans his whole catalogue. Doors at 7 PM, show at 8 PM. If you pick only one Bell Centre night this week, Saturday is the hardest call.
